State Stores May Close In State College
State College and Penn State leaders are making an unusual request to crack down on alcohol sales during a day simply dedicated to drinking in State College.  The officials are trying to shut off a major source of booze during the upcoming State Patty's Day Event. The state stores are shut down on Monday for President's Day and the President of Penn State along with the State College Mayor and local Business Chamber President would like to see this state store and three others closed all day again this Saturday.  A letter was sent to the Liquor Control Board making that request citing the numerous problems caused by the State Patty's Day drinking.  In fact, State College Police Tom King says for each of the past three years.  It has been the busiest day of the year for police.  But in talking with students they think shutting down state stores will make a difference.
