Crime Victims Memorial
When a death is the result of a crime in our community many forget the ones truly hurt by the crime like the victim's families. On Saturday a memorial was held for all those killed during senseless crimes. This allowed loved ones to grieve together and see they are not alone. The event was sponsored by the Victims Services organization and the District Attorney's Office in Somerset and Cambria Counties. The families from Cambria and Somerset Counties came to Greenhouse Park on Saturday to remember the loved one they lost to a violent crime. During the ceremony the names of those killed were read aloud as their family took a flower and said some words. Afterwards, the flowers were tossed into the river. Many watched as the carnation flowed downstream towards the City of Johnstown. A memorial garden is now set up in the park for the victim's families to plant items in their honor.
