UPJ Instructor Takes Science To The National Airwaves

A UPJ instructor will hit the national airwaves over the weekend. David Willey, who teaches physics, was featured in a multi-segment science show on the National Geographic Channel. Beyond Bizarre and Indestructible premiered back-to-back  Sunday night. The show will be repeated  at 8 and 11 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, and at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 13.

Mr. Willey and other experts will explain the science behind a woman hanging by two hooks through her back, a sword swallower swallowing a running jack hammer, a firewalk, and a strong man supposedly holding back a high-powered sports car.

Mr. Willey was a regular guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno where he was known as The Mad Scientist.  He has also been featured on television programs around the world in countries including Germany and Holland, where he entertains audiences with the principles of physics.  In July 1998, Mr. Willey earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for distance fire walking.
