Jilly Todaro’s family is speaking out two months after her remains were found in the former Johnstown home of convicted murderer Brian Giles. Monday, we spoke with a member of the family. The Todaro family tells us that while they’re still grieving the loss of Jilly, they’re looking for justice while remembering her life.
On Monday, we spoke with Jilly Todaro’s Uncle, Bill Mazzarese, who says he’s grateful for the amount of community concern that was shown for Todaro during her disappearance and discovery. Mazzarese saying: “I think it shows the good side of people. They don’t like to see others hurt or mistreated.” Todaro’s remains were discovered in June, just one day after Brian Giles was convicted of murder in the case of his wife’s disappearance and death.
Mazzarese says he’s thankful for everyone that worked to find her remains and is appreciative of those who are currently investigating her case. Mazzarese adding: “I would like to see justice for Jilly, and I’d like to see the person who did this held responsible. I feel more sadness than a desire for vengeance.”
Mazzarese says he wants Todaro to be remembered as a good person who had a childlike heart and trusting nature. He says she lived her life as best as she could with the talent and skills that she had. Mazzarese adding: “She had hopes and dreams for her future. Due to no fault of her own, she had disadvantages that made life difficult to manage. But despite her setbacks, she never stopped trying. She never gave up hope in life.”
Friends of Todaro will be received Tuesday night at Geisel Funeral Home in Johnstown, and the funeral will be held Wednesday morning.
