We begin tonight with authorities saying a woman has died following a house fire in Jefferson County this morning.

At about 11:05 this morning crews responded to a house fire here along Paradise Road in Sykesville, which left one woman dead at the scene.
All we know now from this fire is that two people lived in the home, but fire officials say only one was actually present during the time of the fire.
Firefighters arrived at the scene to find the house engulfed in flames, and eventually the Jefferson County Coroner was called in.
The coroner confirms that one woman is dead from the fire, along with several pets that lived there.
At this time, an investigation on how this fire happened remains active.
The woman killed has not yet been identified.
