Penn State Hockey Buzz

Local stores and fans alike are revving up in anticipation after Penn State Men’s Ice Hockey earned a spot in the Frozen Four.

Our Michael Mirville is live in downtown State College, where everyone is gearing up for the big tournament.

For the first time in the program, the Nittany Lions are going to the NCAA Frozen Four in St. Louis. But back in State College, Penn State fans are running to get their hands on anything blue and white ahead of the big game.

After making history, hockey fever has taken over State College.

Since Sunday Night’s overtime win against Uconn, stores like the Family Clothesline and Student Bookstore have seen an jump of customers eager to show support for Men’s Ice Hockey.

Stores have loaded up on all hockey gear, from jerseys, to hats and sweaters.

Frozen Four Merch is anticipated to come to stores within the next coming days, which makes owners expect another rise in sales.

For Nittany Lions Head Coach Guy Gadowsky, support from fans and Penn State student sections has been immense.

“The support from Penn Staters was incredible, the atmosphere was awesome, our student section is such a big part of what we do, and was there in full force, and are a big part of the wins that we’ve had.”

Next week, the team will play Boston University in the semi finals of the Division 1 Ice Hockey Championships.

Whether its from home in State College or down in St Louis, Penn State fans are ready to cheer on their team in style come April 10th.
