Altoona police have released new details about the arrest of a Blair County man over the weekend who reportedly pointed a gun at another individual.
Police say on Friday evening, officers were dispatched to a residence along Pennbrook Street for a report of a weapons incident.
Authorities say the male victim told officers that 34-year-old Naithan Fredericks had reportedly pointed a handgun at him.
According to the affidavit, police say the victim was working at the home and was visited by some relatives, which included Fredericks’ girlfriend.
Police say during the visit, the girlfriend reportedly received a phone call from Fredericks and two began arguing over the phone.
Authorities say Fredericks then reportedly showed up to the home in-person, and continued to argue with his girlfriend.
During the course of the argument, police say Fredericks allegedly threatened to kill anyone who exited the porch of the home.
Investigators say, according to the victim, Fredericks then left the home, and his girlfriend soon followed suit.
A short time later, authorities say the victim exited the home to “get some air” when he witnessed Fredericks sitting outside the residence in his vehicle.
Police say Fredericks was reportedly pointing a handgun out the window, at which time he allegedly pulled the trigger.
Police say the gun reportedly did not fire but the victim heard a “click” and then ran back inside the home.
Authorities say when officers arrived at the scene, Fredericks was gone, but they reportedly spoke to his girlfriend who claimed that she had text messages from him stating that he was going to return to the home with a loaded gun.
“I’m loading my gun now and I’m coming back,” one of the messages reportedly said.
Police note that they initially found Fredericks in a wooded area near 16th Ave. but that he was able to flee from officers on foot.
According to online court documents, Fredericks was taken into custody on Saturday on various charges, including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, making terroristic threats and possession of an instrument of crime.
He is being held at the Blair County Prison on $100,000 bail.
