In 1997, Pennsylvania deregulated its electricity market by passing the state’s Electric Choice and Competition Act. The deregulation allows customers the ability to choose what electric supplier they would like to use to generate their power separate from their utility company, resulting in competition and energy cost savings for consumers. Patrick Cicero, the Acting Consumer Advocate for the Pennsylvania Office of Consumer Advocate joins us with more information.
