Its been nearly a year and half since a traffic stop near Interstate 80 in Centre County drew national attention.
The suspect involved has yet to go to trial, and a judge has recently rejected his request concerning a trial jury.
It was December of 2023 when a State Police stop of Dereck Raimey drew major controversy.
Police say their aggressive response was justified because Raimey led them on a high speed chase on I-80, before being stopped, and they feared he had a weapon.
Raimey’s attempt to have the resulting criminal charges dismissed was rejected by a judge.
Recently Raimey requested an out of county jury, if his case goes to trial, but just last week a judge also ruled against that request.
