If you’ve driven by the Johnstown Galleria recently, you might have noticed some big changes. We spoke with the owner he says it has been a year in the making.
Johnstown Galleria Owner Leo Karruli says his project to repave the roads surrounding the building is almost complete after a year of work. Leo Karruli, who bought the Galleria in 2022, says one of his first plans was to improve the roads surrounding the building. Karruli says he had been hearing complaints about the roadways from Customers and Employees. Karruli saying: “The time I came over here in the beginning, the roads were very bad, there were a lot of potholes, very bad condition, I used to have a lot of phone calls and everything coming and saying my tire broke and this and this, so I know the concern and everything.”
After beginning the project last July, Karruli says it is nearly coming to a close. He says there is just one area of road outside of the former Sears store that needs repaved. Karruli adding: “I try to do the project every year, to do a little bit, I’m almost done. I say next year I’ll probably be finished with all the roads and everything.”
Karruli says he plans to repave the parking lots after the roads are complete. Business owners at the Galleria say they’re happy to see the improvements. Evelyn Vargas, the Owner of Gotham City Bakery saying: “It makes it a lot easier for patrons to get to the mall as opposed to the process and what was happening before. There were too many potholes.”
Karruli says he hopes the repaved roads will encourage more people to come to the Galleria. Karruli adding: “By paving the road, I want to make sure the people feel comfortable every time they come to the Johnstown Galleria Mall.”
Karruli says he has several more projects to improve the Galleria that are in the works.
